Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Louie is a sweet boy who can come off a little over excited when someone comes to his kennel, but it's just because he loves people. He gets a little eager to be leashed up, but with a little patience and calm energy, he quickly settles in and is ready to go. Louie walks easy on his leash and is excited to explore. He has puppy energy, but also has the signs of being an incredible activity partner. He does bark from time to time at other dogs, but he also has a wagging tail and is more saying `HI FRIEND!` than anything else. He likes to play and run around the yards of the shelter, but also wants to check in with his people of a kiss or two. He will also take a minute to stop and sit on the ground with you, just to watch the world go by - and make sure he doesn't miss anything. To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
