EMILIA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Emilia Best Guess for Breed: Lab and beagle mix Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of March 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 22 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: Puerto Rico shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here! Special adoption considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure she can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes. Emilia is Looking For: Her forever home! Emilia is a sato - a dog from Puerto Rico. She did an amazing job raising her babies Elian, Elaia, Eros, and Enzo and they all came up to the DC area first to get their own families. Now it's Emilia's turn! She is eager to get her fresh start with her own humans in the DC area - sh's eager to explore her new area on sniffy walks and adventures! But you know what she wants most of all? To know she's safe and loved, where she belongs. In exchange she promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship for all her days. What do you say? Can you see this small sweetie down there by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once this pup has spent time in foster care. Breed overview
Overview:
The Labbe, an increasingly popular designer dog breed, is a delightful mix of the outgoing Beagle and the loyal Labrador Retriever. Originating from the desire to combine the best traits of both parents, Labbes are known for their medium size, typically weighing between 30-70 pounds, and possessing a sturdy, athletic build. Their coats are usually short and dense, varying in color like their Lab parents, and their ears often retain the Beagle's charming flop. Temperamentally, Labbes are renowned for being friendly, intelligent, and generally good-natured, making them excellent family pets that thrive on companionship. While adaptable, their moderate energy levels mean they benefit from regular exercise and are best suited for homes with yards, although they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient outdoor activity. Potential health considerations, inherited from their parent breeds, can include hip and elbow dysplasia, ear infections, and certain eye conditions, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups crucial for these engaging companions.
