The Carolina Dog, often called the “American Dingo,” is a fascinating and ancient breed believed to have descended from primitive canids that crossed the Bering land bridge with early humans. Originating in the southeastern United States, particularly the swamps and forests of the Carolinas and Georgia, they are a medium-sized dog with a distinctive wild appearance. Physically, they possess a lean, athletic build, short reddish-brown to black coat, and a characteristic "fish-hook" tail. Temperamentally, Carolina Dogs are known for their intelligence, independence, and natural instincts; they can be reserved with strangers but form strong bonds with their families.
