Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Einstein is a 1-year-old Doodle mix with a soft tan coat, a big personality, and an even bigger heart. Weighing about 50 pounds, this medium-sized pup is fully house-trained, great with kids, dogs, and even cats, though he may get a little too excited when his feline friends give him attention! Einstein is truly special, he’s a proud tripod who recently had a hind leg amputated, and he’s adapted beautifully. Despite a tough start to life, including time spent with a broken leg, he hasn’t let anything dull his spirit. He still runs, plays, and bounds around with joy (often tossing his favorite stuffed toys into the air!), most of the time, you’d hardly notice he’s missing a leg. This happy, affectionate boy absolutely lives for attention. He’ll roll onto his back with his big paws in the air asking for belly rubs, and he never passes up a chance to soak up love from anyone he meets. He’s submissive and friendly with other dogs, takes corrections well, and would do great in a multi-pet home with continued guidance, especially around giving cats a little space. Einstein is high-energy and would thrive in an active home that can give him plenty of physical and mental stimulation. He’s currently working through some crate anxiety and separation challenges, likely from his shelter experience, and will need a patient adopter committed to helping him build confidence and feel secure. He can be vocal when kenneled and isn’t the best fit for homes with shared walls. He does have a gentle sensitivity to raised objects (like thrown sticks or ball launchers), but he’s already making progress with reassurance and consistency. Einstein is a resilient, joyful pup who’s overcome so much and still greets the world with excitement and love. If you’re looking for a loyal, lively companion and are ready to support his continued growth, Einstein just might be your perfect match. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
