Description
Dog Breed: Shiba Inu (medium coat). Meet Guinness! This darling Shiba Inu is a 7 month old purebred weighing in at a whopping 27 lbs. Shibas are said to be an aloof breed, but Guinness did not receive that memo. He is an outgoing, tail wagging, airplane eared, kissing type of Shiba. As a puppy he is still working on some basic manners, but with proper training will learn quickly. Shibas are intelligent dogs and excel with positive reinforcement training. Guinness is food motivated and quite agreeable when treats are involved. Typical to the breed, he is already crate trained and potty trained and has had no accidents in his foster home. He loves to be outside, even in the colder weather, and would enjoy a fenced yard to run in. A 6 foot privacy type fence would be best for him as Guinness has already demonstrated the ability to climb out of an exercise pen easily. He is working on leash manners. He is currently being fostered with both large and small dogs and has done great with everyone. He is an active, playful guy and would enjoy a canine companion or two with similar energy. He’s just a happy go lucky, sweet boy. Guinness is neutered, fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready for his forever family! His adoption donation fee is $475. Overview:
The Shiba Inu, a spirited and ancient breed originating from Japan, is renowned for its fox-like appearance and independent nature. Historically bred for hunting in mountainous regions, they possess a strong, athletic build with a distinctive curly tail and alert, expressive eyes. Their coat is typically short and dense, often displaying striking red, sesame, or black and tan colors, complete with a creamy "urajiro" underside. Temperamentally, Shibas are known for their intelligence, confidence, and sometimes aloof demeanor, yet they form strong bonds with their families. While they can be excellent companions, their strong prey drive and independent streak mean they require consistent training and socialization from a young age. They adapt well to apartment living provided they receive sufficient daily exercise, but a secure yard is always a plus. Generally a healthy breed, they can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, hip dysplasia, and allergies, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups essential. Their unique personality and striking looks make them a captivating choice for experienced dog owners who appreciate a dog with character.
