Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Hi, I’m Comet I might be a little shy when we first meet… but give me a little time (and maybe a treat or two), and I’ll show you just how sweet and special I really am. Once I feel safe, I become your little shadow—following you around, hanging out nearby, and happily settling at your feet while you relax. I love being close to my people, but I’m also perfectly content doing my own thing for a bit too. It’s the best of both worlds! My favorite things? Running around the backyard, chewing on my toys, and soaking up all the affection I can get. I’m a smart guy who already knows “sit” and “down,” and I’m crate trained and potty trained—so I’m off to a great start! I’d say I have a nice, balanced energy level. I enjoy playtime and activity, but I also really appreciate downtime and cuddles. Honestly, if you’re looking for a companion who can match your vibe—whether that’s play or chill—I’m your guy. New things can feel a little scary at first, but I’m learning quickly that the world isn’t so bad—especially with encouragement, patience, and treats. I’m a fast learner and very adaptable, and with the right person by my side, I’ll continue to grow into a confident, happy pup. I’m great with kids and would love a home where I can feel safe, loved, and supported as I keep building my confidence. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Request Form prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
