Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Maverick, the kind of puppy that makes you do a double take and then immediately fall in love. At just 4.5 months old and 26 pounds, this adorable mix is already stealing hearts everywhere he goes. Maybe some Shepherd, Cattle Dog, or Terrier… Not sure, but he’s a perfect all American mix. With his stunning coloring, unbelievably soft fur, and those big soulful puppy eyes, Maverick is as handsome as he is lovable. But it is not just his looks that make him special. Maverick has the sweetest personality. He loves to play, happily follows the lead of other dogs with his submissive nature, and soaks up every bit of attention he can get. He is wonderful with kids and just as happy curling up for snuggles as he is romping around with his dog friends. Maverick is crate training, doing great with leash training, and working hard on potty training. He is a smart boy who is eager to learn and already catching on quickly. He is the kind of pup who will really thrive with a little consistency and continued puppy training. He would LOVE a home with kids or other dogs. Maverick was sitting on the euthanasia list in an overcrowded rural shelter with less than 24 hours to live. We are so grateful we were able to bring him to safety. This boy is full of life, joy, and love, and his personality is truly something special. Maverick is neutered, fully vetted, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find his forever family. His adoption donation fee is $450. If you are ready to add this one of a kind boy to your home, please apply on our website directly in the dropdown menu havenanimalrescuenebraska PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: havenanimalrescuenebraska/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you. Thank you for choosing adoption!!

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
