Description
Dog Breed: Shih Tzu (medium coat). Please contact Jamesa (roxysrescueyahoo), 713-882-2610 for more information about this pet. This majestic little lady is QUEENIE She is 9 years young and 7 pounds and a great little toy Shih Tzu that you can hold and cuddle and take on errands with you. I thought about keeping QUEENIE myself because of her age but I have foster dogs who take up my time and attention and QUEENIE tries to follow behind me and ends up getting run over. She still plays and goes outside to potty with everyone else and all of the dogs are bigger than she is. She is quiet and independent and primarily healthy. Because of her age and breed, she has Luxating Patella in both legs but that does not stop her from running and jumping AND climbing the stairs just fine. She use to sleep in a crate but decided that the laundry room was more comfortable so she drug her little bed and blanket into the laundry room. I was shocked but I allowed her to make that her room. She is not spayed but I will get her spayed before she goes to her new home. QUEENIE was horribly matted when I got her, she was found on the streets of San Antonio, TX and had to be shaved down. She has grown out and needs to be groomed again which she will be this week coming up, April 1, Wednesday. This is simply a little doll toy Shih Tzu that is pure delightful to have around. I love having her in my home. If you are interested in adopting QUEENIE, please submit an application on the website below. Overview:
The Shih Tzu, affectionately known as the "lion dog," boasts an ancient and regal lineage, originating from the Tibetan plateau and further refined in imperial China. These charming canines are easily recognized by their striking appearance: a small, sturdy build, a distinctive undershot jaw, and a long, flowing double coat that often requires regular grooming to prevent matting. Temperamentally, Shih Tzus are renowned for being affectionate, outgoing, and playful companions, making them wonderfully suitable for a variety of households. Their adaptable and generally good-natured disposition means they often thrive in families with children and are particularly well-suited for apartment living due to their modest exercise requirements. While generally robust, potential owners should be aware of common breed-specific health concerns, including respiratory issues (due to their brachycephalic, or "smushed" face), eye conditions, and luxating patella. Despite these considerations, a Shih Tzu typically brings immense joy and companionship to their devoted owners.
