Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed. Meet Rocky! This 4-month-old shepherd mix is currently around 25 pounds and full of love. Rocky is a super sweet boy who enjoys meeting new people. He can be a little cautious at first, but he warms up quickly and is soon ready for pets and attention. Rocky is a playful pup who loves being outside—running around, chasing balls, and just enjoying life. He gets along great with other dogs and would love a furry sibling to play with, but he would also be perfectly happy as an only dog as long as he gets plenty of love and attention. He’s also been living with cats in his foster home and does well with them, too! Rocky has been working hard on house training and is making great progress. He’s comfortable in his crate, spending time there during the day and sleeping peacefully through the night. Sometimes he even chooses his crate as his own little safe space. This sweet boy is ready to find his forever family—could that be you? Applicationspawsacrosspittsburgh/adopt Rocky is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations/flea&tick/heartworm prevention. Rocky is available now for adoption through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale Pa, 15144 KL#16182

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
