Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed. Squirrel is an adorable Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who was born on Christmas Day to his mom, Jalapeño—so he truly is a little holiday gift! While his mom looks more like a Chihuahua, Squirrel has taken after the Dachshund side of the family with his longer body, short legs and charming look. He’s a sweet, cuddly pup who loves attention and enjoys playing with any dog that’s willing to join in the fun. Squirrel has a playful personality but also enjoys snuggling up when it’s time to relax. Squirrel is crate trained and mostly house trained, though like many young pups he may have the occasional accident as he continues learning his routine. With consistency and patience, he’ll keep doing great. Squirrel is currently too young to be neutered. His adoption will require that his new family can bring him to his scheduled veterinary appointment in Claremore, OK on April 21st, where he will receive his final vetting, which is covered by Okie Pet Rescue. If you’re looking for a lovable, playful companion with lots of personality packed into a small package, Squirrel could be the perfect addition to your family.

Okie Pet Rescue
okiepetrescuegmail okiepetrescue
An application must be completed and approved after a comprehensive review. Breed overview
Overview:
The Chiweenie, an adorable and increasingly popular designer breed, is a delightful cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the charming Dachshund. Originating in the United States, these small companions inherited a unique blend of traits from their parent breeds. Physically, they typically possess a long, low body reminiscent of the Dachshund, combined with the often-large ears and expressive eyes of the Chihuahua. Their coats can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to long and wiry. Temperamentally, Chiweenies are known for being loyal, affectionate, and surprisingly energetic. They often exhibit a playful and sometimes stubborn streak, making early socialization and training beneficial. Their small size makes them well-suited for apartment living and families with older children or individuals seeking a devoted lapdog. While generally robust, potential health considerations include issues common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation and intervertebral disc disease, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
