Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: 410. SPOOKY (watch my video!) Female, spayed ~ 7 years old Pit Bull Terrier 65 lbs. Up-to-date on core vaccines and takes monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention Good with kids and dogs; untested with cats Meet Spooky — gentle, loyal, and happiest by your side. Despite her name, there’s absolutely nothing spooky about this beautiful soul. Spooky is the definition of a gentle, easygoing companion who has spent far too long waiting for a family to call her own. Her story didn’t start out easy. After being adopted from a shelter by a teenager, she found herself in a home where the resident dog never accepted her. Through it all, Spooky remained the same loving, gentle girl she’s always been. She may need slow, thoughtful introductions to other dogs, but with her people, she falls in love instantly. Spooky’s favorite place is wherever you are. She absolutely adores her people and is happiest simply being by your side. Whether she’s gently climbing into your lap for cuddles, relaxing beside you on the couch, or riding shotgun on a car ride (one of her favorite things!), she’s just grateful to be included. She is wonderfully easy to live with. Spooky is gentle with children, isn’t destructive in the home, and has a calm, affectionate nature that makes her a joy to have around. She also has the sweetest little quirk—she loves carrying a tennis ball everywhere she goes and will often drift off to sleep with her ball still tucked gently in her mouth. Spooky enjoys getting outside for a walk, but she’s not looking for marathon hikes. A short stroll to sniff around the neighborhood is perfect for her. After that, she’s more than happy to head home, curl up on the couch, and spend the rest of the day soaking up love with her favorite people. More than anything, Spooky has the kind of heart that makes people fall in love. She’s sweet, affectionate, loyal, and incredibly grateful for every bit of kindness she’s shown. She isn’t looking for a perfect home—just a family willing to open their hearts and give her the chance she’s been waiting for. If you’re searching for an easy, devoted best friend who will happily be your cuddle buddy, your road trip companion, and your biggest fan, Spooky is ready to fill that role. All she needs now is someone to finally say, “You’re home.” Interested in adopting? Of course you are! Submit an application here! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
