Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Ozlo is a 9-year-old, house-trained, affectionate companion looking for a stable, permanent home. He is great with other dogs, does well with older children, and has a friendly, social personality. He is well-behaved in the home and knows several commands, including sit, stay, lay down, fetch, and “sit pretty.” Ozlo enjoys being around his people and does best in an environment where he can be included in daily activities rather than spending extended time kenneled. Ozlo does exhibit mild herding tendencies, so an adopter with some understanding of working or herding-type breeds - or willingness to continue guiding those behaviors - would be ideal. He is being rehomed due to a significant medical event affecting his owner, and not due to any behavioral concerns. Ideal Placement: Stable home committed to long-term ownership Ability to provide regular interaction, companionship, and moderate activity Understanding of breed traits and willingness to maintain structure Older children or adult household preferred Additional Notes: We are committed to placing Ozlo in a home that is the right fit for both him and his adopter. Because of this, we may ask questions about lifestyle, experience, and expectations to ensure a successful match. **** Breed: Catahoula Leopard Dog/Bull Terrier Mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2195611&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
