Description
Dog Breed: Golden Retriever / Australian Shepherd / Mixed. Meet 1 Year Old 67lb GOLDEN/AUSSIE BRAXTON!! The Rescue Coordinator at the shelter specifically asked us to take this good boy - and after watching a bunch of videos of him being so sweet with staff, gentle with a cat, and getting along with other dogs - we couldn’t say no! He’s likely some kind of retriever / Aussie mix, and look at those baby blues! He’s playful but calm; he’ll need some leash work once he gets here, he’s pretty unfamiliar with it now, so would love to get him a doggy companion or a home in the ‘burbs!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Australian Retriever, a delightful hybrid of the Australian Shepherd and Golden Retriever, is a relatively new designer breed gaining popularity for its winning combination of traits. Originating in the United States, this intelligent and eager-to-please dog typically sports a medium-length, often wavy or feathered coat in a variety of colors, including merle, black, and various shades of gold or red. Physically, they are well-proportioned, often inheriting the Golden's friendly expression with the Aussie's alert eyes. Temperament-wise, they are renowned for being loyal, affectionate, and highly trainable, making them excellent companions for active families. While their energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them better suited for houses with yards rather than small apartments, their adaptability and gentle nature usually make them wonderful with children and other pets. Potential health considerations can include those common to their parent breeds, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and certain eye conditions, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding practices.
