Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (short coat). A5757211 Say hello to Chocolatte , a 2-year-old Pitbull girl who’s just as sweet as her name suggests! With her soft, sleek milk chocolate coat and soulful eyes like pools of warm caramel, she’s an absolute treat inside and out. Chocolatte can be a little shy in the busy shelter, but her calm, gentle nature still shines through in every interaction. She’s friendly, easygoing, and happiest enjoying life’s simple pleasures - like crunching a tasty snack or soaking up sunshine during a cozy nap. Chocolatte would do well with other dogs her size or larger, though she may need a bit of guidance as she continues to learn polite play. If you’re looking for a loving, mellow companion with a heart as sweet as candy, Chocolatte is ready to melt right into your home! -2 year old brown Pitbull -57 pound spayed female -may need the standard round of shots and preventatives before she can go home with you, but the shelter can likely help with this! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 3/20/26 as an internal transfer from another shelter -calm, quiet, and gentle with people, and open and curious about new human friends, but excited and boisterous with other pups - would make an excellent little sister to dogs her size or bigger, who can keep up with her play style CHOCOLATTE’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/IcHL For more information, contact volunteer Lor at lorunitedhopeforanimals Look up this or other animals at Baldwin Park Animal Care Center animalcare.lacounty.gov/view-our-animals/ Use their unique ID NUMBER. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
