Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed. Domino is a happy, affectionate girl with a soft, loving personality and a strong appreciation for being close to her people. She’s the kind of dog who will happily curl up next to you on the couch or stretch out in the sun and just enjoy the moment. In the home, Domino is easy to live with. She’s house trained, well behaved when left alone, and settles nicely at night in her own bed. She knows her name and a variety of commands including “sit,” “stay,” “come,” “lay down,” and “leave it,” and she responds well to both praise and treats. She enjoys getting outside, especially for walks or time in the sun. On leash, she can sometimes lunge or react toward other dogs, particularly if they feel overwhelming to her. It’s rooted in a bit of insecurity, and she’s already making nice progress with positive reinforcement and guidance. Domino can also be a little unsure when meeting new people in her home and may growl at first. This is her way of saying she needs a moment to feel safe. With slow introductions and a few treats, she typically relaxes and warms up quickly. She’s still discovering how to play and is learning what toys are all about, but she already loves food puzzles and enrichment activities. She’s very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. After coming from a difficult past where she was underweight and caring for puppies, she’s now healthy and thriving — and ready for a home where she can continue to feel safe, loved, and secure. Domino was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. She was just hours away from euthanasia with her litter of puppies before she was able to be rescued out of the shelter. Meet and greets are by appointment only. An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time. When we do, it will be updated here. This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above. Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free pet insurance. We are not affiliated with MetLife pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect). Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico. While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.
