Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Hi! My name is Squirrel Nutkin, affectionately known as "Nutters" by my foster family. Although, I'm pretty calm for a puppy! I came to Paws Across Pittsburgh with my siblings, the Peter Rabbit litter. I am a 14 week old mixed breed weighing about 13 pounds. My foster parents say I have the cutest face and best ears ever, can’t say I disagree! I am the perfect combination of playful and cuddly. I love to snuggle my foster humans and squeak/play with my foster fur sister’s toys. I am super food motivated (duh) and very smart, I am already picking up on training and my routine. Here is the thing - for how young I am I have adjusted quickly. I am working hard on crate and house training. I already sleep quietly during the day during crate time (with a few minutes of protest of course) and all night in my crate with no accidents. I am looking for a patient family or individual to grow up with and to continue my training with me since I am doing such a good job. As long as you stick to a routine, I am a smart boy that adjusts quickly. I am great with the other doggos. My foster fur sister is my favorite. I just want to constantly be around her and playing with her. For this reason, I may prefer a home with another furry friend... but I am open to being the only doggo if its the right fit! I have not had a lot of interaction with kiddos or cats, but I am young so I am sure with proper introductions I will be just fine. I love being outside so a fenced in yard may be preferred. Bonus - I am up to date on all my vaccinations for my age and am neutered. Squirrel Nutkin is available for adoption on or after 04/05/26, through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Springdale, PA KL #16182.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
