Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 300.00. Holly is a stunning 2-year-old chocolate Labrador with a story of resilience and heart. Her journey began with hardship—after being hit by a car and left without medical care, she was eventually rescued in rough condition, suffering from severe hair loss and injuries that required the amputation of one of her legs. But Holly’s spirit proved stronger than her past. With love, care, and time, she made an incredible recovery—her fur has fully grown back into a rich, beautiful chocolate coat, and she embraces life with unstoppable joy. Despite having three legs, Holly doesn’t miss a beat. She’s playful, energetic, and proudly holds the title of “fetch queen.” When she’s not chasing a ball, she’s happiest curled up close, earning her reputation as a true snuggle bug. She also takes her role as an excellent backyard squirrel patrol very seriously, always on alert and ready to keep the yard critter-free. Holly’s gentle and loving personality shines in every interaction. She is wonderful with children and friendly with all adults, making her a perfect family companion. She gets along beautifully with other dogs and even happily coexists with the resident cat. She’s both crate trained and potty trained, making her an easy addition to any home. Because Holly is a tripod, she does best with moderate activity and doesn’t tolerate long walks, but she more than makes up for it with her enthusiasm for playtime and affection. Holly is more than just a survivor—she’s a testament to resilience, love, and second chances, bringing warmth and happiness wherever she goes.

Overview:
The Labrador Retriever, a beloved and highly popular breed, originated in Newfoundland, Canada, where they were initially bred to assist fishermen by retrieving nets and stray fish. Physically, they are medium-to-large dogs, known for their strong, athletic build, short, dense, weather-resistant double coat (commonly seen in black, yellow, or chocolate), and their distinctive "otter" tail. Temperamentally, Labs are celebrated for their friendly, outgoing, and good-natured disposition, making them exceptional family companions. Their intelligence and eagerness to please contribute to their trainability, though they do require consistent exercise to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While adaptable, their energy levels make them more suited to homes with yards, or highly active families, rather than apartment living, unless daily extensive exercise is guaranteed. Regarding health, Labs can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and some eye conditions, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. Overall, their loyalty, versatility, and affectionate nature firmly establish the Labrador Retriever as a wonderful addition to many households.
