Please note - if you want to skip the text and go straight to the application, you can find the link here: .carolinapoodlerescue/application/ Must have: A cat free home. Other than that, he'd do well in a lot of different home styles Exercise: Running around the house is good - but he is active and needs that run time, this is NO couch potato. He's also does not have to have 5 mile walks. He's got short legs - a mile will do. Best with: A loving adult home Not ideal for: CATS - NO CATS Energy level: High for a little short guy. Napoleon complex maybe! Cocoa is a joyful, energetic pup who thrives on activity, companionship, and being part of everything you do. He’d love a home with another playful dog and people who can keep up with his zest for life. Crate trained, social, and full of fun - but no cats, please! Good with dogs: Yes, Cocoa likes all dogs large, medium and small. He and Romeo are the BEST buddies. Want two - they would love to go together. Good with kids: We do not recommend kids under 10 not because of Cocoa but because kids are not always good with dogs this tiny. He's very small. Cats: Nope, nada, not a good idea at all. Cats are made for catching says Cocoa. Fun fact: Cocoa is convinced he’s management - he supervises all activity, walks through doors like he owns the place, and keeps tabs on everyone’s business. Potential Adopters Dogs can’t drive - and since we’re busy taking care of them, we can’t either! Please check your potential BFF’s location and make sure you’re comfortable traveling to meet them. Breed overview
Poodle (Toy)
A.K.A.: Caniche Miniatura, Dwarf Poodle, Miniature Poodle, Pudel Zwerg, Kleinpuddel
Overview:
The Toy Poodle is a captivating and intelligent breed, originating in Germany as a water retriever before being miniaturized in France. Physically, they are known for their distinctive, dense, and curly single-layer coat, which is virtually non-shedding, making them a popular choice for individuals with allergies. They possess an elegant, well-proportioned build, bright, dark eyes, and a proud, confident gait. In terms of temperament, Toy Poodles are remarkably smart, alert, and highly trainable, eager to please their owners. They thrive on companionship and mental stimulation, often excelling in canine sports like obedience and agility. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for various living situations, including apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental engagement. They are generally good with respectful children and can integrate well into families. While generally robust, like many purebreds, they can be predisposed to certain health conditions such as patellar luxation, progressive retinal atrophy, and Addison's disease, highlighting the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
