Description

Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Baby #11 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Baby #11 | 6.5-Year-Old Chihuahua | Tiny Shadow with a Big Heart Baby is a 6.5-year-old, 12.5-pound blonde Chihuahua who will quickly become your devoted little shadow. When he first arrived in foster care, he was understandably nervous and a bit unsure, but within just a few days he blossomed into an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy who now loves nothing more than being close to his person—preferably cuddled under the covers or curled up in your lap. He’s a self-proclaimed “Mama’s boy,” though he’s friendly with both men and women and forms strong bonds with his people. Baby has a medium energy level and is perfectly content with a couple of short daily walks followed by plenty of time relaxing on the couch. He is fantastic on leash—he walks politely by your side, doesn’t pull, and isn’t reactive—making outings with him easy and enjoyable. He also has some adorable quirks, like prancing when he walks, resting his head on you for extra closeness, and performing impressive little jumps straight into the air when it’s mealtime. He’s even a bit of a talker and will let you know when he wants something. In the home, Baby is easygoing and gets along well with other dogs and cats, though he appreciates respectful space and may give a little growl if another dog gets too close to his face. He’s currently almost house trained, with just occasional marking that is likely influenced by other dogs in his foster home, and he does great when left alone for 4–6 hours with canine companions. He hasn’t been tested with children, but he would likely do best in a quieter, adult home where he can feel safe and relaxed. Baby thrives on love and routine, responds well to structure, and is highly motivated by both food and affection. He does enjoy being held, but prefers a gentle, patient approach—once he’s comfortable, he’s all in for snuggles. His ideal home would be with someone who is around often, such as a remote worker or retiree, and who will welcome him into bed at night and into their arms whenever possible. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly companion with a touch of personality and a whole lot of love to give, Baby may just be your perfect match. If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $400. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogsarrcolorado for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: arrcolorado/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
