If you’re looking for a puppy with personality, brains, and nonstop fun—Mickey is your guy. At just 4 months old and 14 pounds, Mickey is a compact bundle of energy who wakes up ready to take on the world. He doesn’t just play—he creates games, solves problems, and keeps you thinking right along with him. Smart + Curious Mickey is highly intelligent and a natural problem solver. He learns quickly, figures things out on his own, and will absolutely thrive with training, structure, and mental enrichment. ⚡ Energy for Days This little guy is very, very energetic. He loves to run, explore, and engage with his environment. Mickey isn’t a low-key puppy—he’s your daily adventure partner. Personality Playful, goofy, and always curious Confident and highly engaged Loves interaction and activity Bonds closely with his people ⚠️ Important: Training Needs (Read This) Mickey is still a puppy and learning, but he can be possessive of food and toys at times. This is not uncommon at his age, but it must be addressed early to prevent long-term issues. Because of this, Mickey will do best with an adopter who: Is committed to consistent, structured training Understands or is willing to learn about resource guarding prevention Will use positive reinforcement to build trust and appropriate behavior Can manage feeding and toy time thoughtfully (no free-for-all environments) This is very fixable—but it won’t fix itself without guidance. Ideal Home Mickey would do best in a home that: Enjoys an active lifestyle Is committed to training and engagement Can provide daily exercise + mental stimulation Is prepared to work with him on boundaries and sharing behaviors ❤️ The Payoff With the right guidance, Mickey is going to grow into an incredibly smart, loyal, and entertaining companion. He’s the kind of dog who will keep life interesting—and form a deep bond with his person. Mickey isn’t just looking for a home—he’s looking for someone ready to invest in him and help him become his best self. Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for his entire life (up to 15+ years or more) - not just until his puppy cuteness wears off. You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Like most puppies, he may chew on anything within his reach to include but not limited to baseboards, shoes, socks, children's toys, electrical cords, plants, etc. His adoption fee is $250. This includes his neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccinations, Bravecto®, Drontal® Plus, Tri-Heart® Plus Chewable Tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at .saspca. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references, and criminal histories. Our adoption events are held each Saturday at Petco located in the Northwoods Shopping Center at 18138 San Pedro Ave, San Antonio TX 78232. Event hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional questions may be directed to sagdinfogmail. ** This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
