Dog Breed: Siberian Husky / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Rocco, the pit-sky puppy (pitbull mixed with husky)! This exuberant guy with icy blue eyes came to the Shelter after the landlord said that they could no longer have dogs at the property. Rocco is a spunky pup who is confident and curious. He is still learning how to appropriately use his mouth in interactions. He is in a foster home learning that sharp puppy teeth on people is not good and that it is more appropriate to put toys in his mouth instead. Because of his mouthiness, a home free of young children is recommended. Rocco may enjoy a home with a dog friend after a meet and greet at the Shelter. Being a puppy, Rocco is still perfecting life skills and manners like potty training and age appropriate socialization. Rocco’s fosters describe him as a sweet floppy noodle that prefers to be int eh company of humans. He likes to hang out on his back and snuggle while chewing a toy. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
