If we do not receive a timely response we simply move on to another applicant. And please wait for our response as we schedule appointments to meet our pets. Below is info about our pet & adoption cost/detail information below that – please read all. PET DESCRIPTION: Bama is a six-year-old female Heeler, 44 lbs. She was surrendered to us by her owner who just didn't want to keep her anymore. She loves people, very attentive, good with other dogs BUT is exhibiting a lot of food guarding in our kennels. That could be more of a kennel phenomenon since close quarters but be aware just in case that if other dogs they might have to all be fed separately or crated for feeding. DOG ADOPTION FEE is $100. This Adoption fee includes: mandatory spay/neuter which will be done before you can take your dog or puppy home with you; basic canine immunizations (DHPP-CPV & Bordatella Intranasal); de-wormings; one-year rabies vaccination if old enough; heartworm test if over five months old; microchip from 24-Pet Watch; certificate for free health examination at your participating veterinarian; and a goodie bag chocked full of information, toys, and more. (If a dog is sponsored or has a waived or lower fee, that info will be provided at the point of adoption to the approved adopter). In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
