Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). This handsome 2-year-old is looking for his forever home â and he is ALL love. He will greet you with the biggest hug and prefers to cuddle before heading out on any adventure. He's happy and social at the shelter, greeting new people with confidence when a familiar face is leading him. Orejon is a dream to batheâhe stands still for his full wash and tolerates the blow-dryer without fuss. Out and about, he walks like a gentleman in busy environments and doesn't react to strangers or other dogs passing by. He pulls a bit on the leash, but responds well to corrections. A seatbelt clip is recommended for car trips, unless you want him to drive! He has shown prey drive toward cats and small animals, so a home without them would be the best fit. Orejon would thrive with a patient family who loves a big personality and even bigger cuddles. Schedule an appointment to meet Orejon at yoloshelter/dogs or email adoptyoloshelter

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
