Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Estelle is a sweet little dog whose child-bearing days are over! She weighs about 10 lbs and is probably about 5 years old. She was very scared when she first came to her foster home, but has warmed up and now sleeps in the bed and solicits petting. She never offered to bite no matter how scared she was. She is not house trained but is making progress with puppy pads. She chases cats but has no intention of hurting them. She absolutely loves other dogs, and currently lives with dogs of all sizes. She needs to go to a home with a friendly, well adjusted canine companion to help her build confidence. A fenced-in yard is a good idea. Estelle is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at petsmpravl for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
