Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Currently located at our Chrisney, IN location Meet Zeus Maximus — and yes, he absolutely lives up to the name! This 6-year-old black and white pit mix is a certified big meatball with an even bigger heart. Zeus came into our care after his beloved owner sadly passed away. Despite losing his person, Zeus has remained a gentle, steady soul who just wants to love and be loved again. He keeps a clean kennel (what a gentleman!) and carries himself with a calm, mature presence. Don’t let his solid build fool you — beneath that sturdy exterior is a soft, squishy cuddle bug who would happily spend his days lounging by your side. Zeus would thrive in a home where he can decompress, feel safe, and soak up attention. At six years old, he’s past the puppy chaos and ready to settle into a routine filled with naps, belly rubs, and companionship. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion with a heart as big as his head, Zeus Maximus may be your guy. Interested in fostering this handsome hunk? Submit an application at ITVrescue. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated, if necessary.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
