Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (long coat). Sweet Cheyanne is a 3-year-old German Shepherd who came to us very underweight and frightened, but thanks to careful care and lots of love from our staff, she has made an amazing transformation. She now weighs about 60 pounds and is still working on gaining a little more weight as she continues to thrive. At first, Cheyanne was very scared, but as she has settled in, her true personality has begun to shine. She is laid‑back, playful, and very smart. Cheyanne can be a bit shy and unsure at first, but once she feels comfortable, she is affectionate and eager to bond. She does well with older children and gets along with other dogs. Cheyanne would do best in a patient home that will give her the time and reassurance she needs to fully trust and blossom. She is a stunning, purebred German Shepherd with classic brown and black markings—truly a head‑turner inside and out. This resilient girl is ready for a loving home where she can continue her journey and be cherished forever. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
