Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. FLOWER DESERVED KINDNESS — NOT CRUELTY Flower is only 2 years old, but the life she’s lived so far has clearly been a hard one. This gentle 41-lb mama arrived at the shelter with her tiny puppy, Petal, doing the best she could to care for her baby despite everything she’s been through. Volunteers describe Flower as sweet, gentle, and loving — a quiet girl who seems grateful for every bit of kindness she receives. But one look tells a painful story. Flower’s tail appears to have been cruelly hacked off. Someone hurt this dog. Someone failed her. And yet… Flower still trusts people. She still wants love. She still gently leans in for affection. Despite everything, her spirit remains soft. Flower is heartworm positive, which is treatable, and she deserves the chance to heal — both physically and emotionally — in a home that will finally show her the compassion she has always deserved. She raised her baby. She survived cruelty. Now Flower needs someone to choose her. Please share Flower’s story so the right person sees her. Let the rest of her life be the part where she finally learns what love feels like.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
