Description
Dog Breed: Flat-coated Retriever / Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). Mariel along with her sisters Milu and Morgan and her brother Moon, have found themselves in a shelter in Puerto Rico. They are now hoping loving families in the States will give these adorable pups a chance. Mariel is a 4–5 month old female, currently 15–20 lbs, and up to date on vaccinations. She’s part of a sweet, playful litter—Moon and Morgan have a bit of extra fluff, while Mariel and Milu have shorter coats, but all of them share the same loving, curious spirit. These smart, playful puppies are ready to learn and grow with a family willing to invest the time and love they need to thrive. In return, you’ll gain a loyal best friend for life. Adoption fee: $395 If you’re ready to open your heart and home to Mariel (or one of her siblings), please reach out. One small decision could change their whole future. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
