Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Hey hey!! Iâm Dax! I just arrived here as a stray, so my past is a bit of a mysteryâbut my future? Oh, itâs looking fun. Iâm a young pitbull mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger zest for life. If youâre looking for a dog who brings the party with him⦠thatâs me. Let me tell you a little about myself: -Iâm super playful and full of energy (zoomies included) -I can be a bit bouncyâI just get so excited to see my people! -Iâm still learning my manners, so I could use some training -BUT⦠I am VERY food motivated (snacks = instant best friend) Seriously, if youâve got treats and a little patience, Iâm ready to learn anything you want to teach me. Sit? Stay? World domination? Iâm in. Under all that energy, Iâm just a really sweet boy who loves attention and being around people. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
