Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. Severe bronchitis, collapsing trachea, skin infections. total mess This dog has known nothing but neglect her whole life. She is being treated with antibiotics, medicated baths cytopoint injection, and lots of TLC. Bella is a cuddler who loves to be in your arms/lap. Due to her severe skin infection, she was not a candidate for spay upon intake. After 4 weeks of antibiotics, probiotics, and medicated baths, we took her in for her spay and THANK GOODNESS we did. She was developing pyometra, which is deadly if not caught in time. Bella is recovering nicely. She will be looking for a soft place to spend her senior years. Bella will likely need allergy shots or oral meds on an ongoing basis.

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
