Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 200.00. eet me Saturday 4/4 at the Pleasanton Farmer's Market, in Delucchi Park, from 9 am - 1 pm! (4501 First Street, Pleasanton). Bean is a super sweet dog and loves to be around his people once he trusts them; he can be initially shy but if you go slow are patient with him, he will hop around in excitement to see you. He is doing well with housetraining as long as he's taken out to the yard for regular breaks. Bean is nervous after ending up in shelter care; loud noises and being alone make him nervous. He arrived in shelter care heavily matted with ear infections and is still a bit sensitive about his ears and back end. He welcomes pets on his head and chest. Bean is leash-trained and enjoys a leisurely 30-minute walk with lots of opportunities to sniff! Bean was transferred to Valley Humane on 1/14 from the Tri-City Animal Shelter. He had been found stray. Bean weighs 10.4 pounds and is a young adult dog (estimated to be aged between 1 and 4 years). Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
