Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Adoption Fee: 200.00. Meet me Saturday 4/4 at the Pleasanton Farmer's Market, in Delucchi Park, from 9 am - 1 pm! (4501 First Street, Pleasanton). Tim Drake has proven himself to be quite well-behaved in foster care. Outdoors, he likes to explore the yard and loves playing fetch with a tennis ball and is starting to "give" on command even though he really wants to hang on to that ball. He's so fast and fun to watch. He has been quick to learn 'off', 'down', and 'no' and easily learned 'sit' with just a few treats. He is good on a leash and around other dogs. Tim eats well but does get 'barky' if left alone too long. Overnight, he sleeps well in a crate and also spends time in his crate when left alone. When with you, he loves snuggling and being on your lap. Tim is not quite housetrained but given that he's proven himself to be a smart guy, with routine and consistency, he should pick it up soon. Tim Drake was transferred to Valley Humane on 3/9 from Stockton Animal Services. He had been found stray. Tim weighs 10 pounds and is a young adult dog (estimated to be aged between 1 and 4 years). Do you have questions about this animal or are you ready to take the next step to adoption? Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
