Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Winnie is 3 yrs old, has been spayed. She is a very loving dog with those she loves. But she has become increasingly reactive to strangers and even our children’s friends! She has escaped several times and terrorizes the neighbors or anyone walking by, she charges and barks and acts like she’ll bite them! She is beautiful and smart but no longer safe for my family to keep! She has bitten kids multiple times now, always in pursuit or when the kids n our yard.. ! If a kid who doesn't live here shows up she can’t be around them!. I thought this was just rough play but the other day a friend was over and she and her liter mate Bear were inside where they usually are not and when the kids opened the door to let her in she and Bear instantly reacted with aggression and charged the girl and Bear bit her on the heel as she ran away! It was a very stressful situation! My daughter got ahold of him by the tail and he growled at her and then Winnie chased after the little girl! If I hadn’t gotten the girl to stop running and face the dog I think she’d have gotten bit again! But now we are left with Rehoming to a safe place for both dogs or behavioral euthanasia! We love this dog and want to search out every option before committing to putting them down! Please help if it’s safe to do So! Thanks in advance, Jennifer **** Breed: Unknown **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2196110&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
