Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Bear Bear is a sweet young male Cane Corso looking for his forever home. He is very dog friendly and loves everyone he meets. Bear has the best of both worlds — a silly, playful side and a calm, quiet side too. Bear is still decompressing after we pulled him from the Riverside shelter in California, where he was placed on the euthanasia list. While there, he was kenneled with two dogs that were not kind to him, so we are now helping him rebuild confidence through positive interactions and playgroups with other dogs. Despite what he has been through, Bear is showing us what a special boy he is. He is ready for a family who will give him the love, patience, and stability he deserves. Put in your application and come meet Bear today — he may just be your perfect match. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
