Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Charlie Charlie is a sweet, gentle boy who ended up at the South LA shelter after his owner was squatting on a property, was ordered to leave, and abandoned him behind. Poor Charlie sat there quietly, day after day, with hardly anyone noticing him. He wasn’t really posted or marketed, and somehow this very calm, loving dog was overlooked. But we noticed him. We quickly stepped in to save him, and Charlie has been nothing but grateful ever since. He is dog friendly, very sweet, and about 3 years old. He has a calm, gentle nature and seems so happy just to have food, water, and safety every day. It’s heartbreaking to see how little he needed to be thankful. Charlie is now safe with rescue, and he is ready for the forever home he deserves. Because we do not know how he is with younger children, we think older kids would be best. Let’s find Charlie the loving family he has been waiting for. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
