Description
Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff. Meet Daphne Daphne came to us from a California shelter very shy, shut down, and unsure of the world around her. She has made progress, but she is still a shy and timid girl who needs patience, love, and confidence-building. Daphne is very dependent on having another dog in the home. She truly looks to other dogs for comfort and guidance. She and Cookie became best friends here at the rescue and look like sisters. They are currently in a run together and do everything together except eat. Ideally, we would love to find Daphne and Cookie a home together. We know that may not always be possible, so Daphne’s new home must have another confident, friendly dog of an appropriate age and energy level for her to bond with and continue growing. Daphne is a very sweet girl. She can be a little stubborn at times, especially when she is asked to come inside and decides she is not ready. Sometimes you have to go get her, but that is really just her shyness and uncertainty showing through. She needs a patient home that understands shy dogs and will give her the time, structure, and confidence she needs to keep blossoming. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
