Description
Dog Breed: Pug / Chihuahua / Mixed. Meet Muskrat Muskrat is a 4‑month‑old Pug/Chihuahua mix with a whole lot of sweetness packed into her tiny frame. She’s fun, gentle, and still learning about the big world around her. New dogs can make her a little shy at first, but give her a few minutes and she warms up enough to figure out who’s ready to play. In her foster home, Muskrat has met cats and even chickens, taking it all in stride with her soft, curious nature. She also did well crated with her sister, showing she can settle nicely when it’s time to rest. This little lady is pee‑pad trained and is also learning to go potty outside — she’s smart, eager, and picking things up quickly. Muskrat may be small, but she’s full of love, charm, and puppy potential. She’s ready for a family who will help her grow in confidence and enjoy all the cuddles she’s more than happy to give. Because Muskrat is a high‑energy, still‑developing Puppy, she will do best in a home that can keep up with her activity level, play needs, and ongoing socialization. We are looking for adopters who are comfortable with a very active youngster and able to provide consistent interaction, enrichment, and supervision. Muskrat's adoption fee is $350, which helps support their medical care and preparation for adoption. Breed overview
Overview:
The "Chug," a delightful crossbreed of the Chihuahua and Pug, originated from the desire to combine the best traits of both beloved parent breeds. Physically, Chugs typically inherit a compact build, weighing between 10-20 pounds, with a short, smooth coat that comes in various colors, often displaying the Pug's characteristic wrinkled face and the Chihuahua's expressive eyes. Their temperament is generally a charming mix of the Pug's affectionate and playful nature with the Chihuahua's spirited and loyal disposition, making them wonderful companions. Chugs are highly adaptable, excelling in both apartment living and homes with families, including those with older children, though early socialization is key. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of predispositions to respiratory issues (due to their brachycephalic features), patellar luxation, and eye conditions, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
