Description

Dog Breed: Brittany (medium coat). My name is Axel and I'm a very happy, kind and loving 2 year old liver/white male Brittany. I love to play, retrieve and go for walks on leash. Sometimes, I can be a little shy if someone looks at me. I will turn my head away as if I've done something wrong even when I haven't. I'm happiest when I can please my people and be loved. I was born with a slight disability in my hind legs called "cow-hocked". It means my hind legs turn inward and my toes point outward. When I first came to NBRAN, I had no strength in my hind legs mostly due to lack of exercise in my previous home. Since then, I have gained strength in my muscle structure and I have way more stamina My NBRAN caregiver gives me some pumpkin and ginger with my food to help my digestive system to where I rarely have any accidents anymore. I'm a very sweet young boy who is looking for the perfect family. I'm a great dog who gets along with other dogs and kids. Can't say for sure about cats, though. You can't tell that I have a slight disability because I'm healthier and happier that I ever was. I would be a wonderful companion for a similarly challenged child. I'm easy to love and will love in return. Axel is currently in northwest Georgia and can be transported up to 1400 miles via our Canine Railroad. His adoption fee is $400 to cover the cost of vetting and to help other Brittanys in need. For more information, contact brittsnbitsgmail.

Overview:

The Brittany is a beloved and versatile gun dog, originating from the Brittany province of France in the 17th century. These medium-sized dogs are instantly recognizable by their athletic build, often appearing leggy and agile, with a dense, flat or wavy coat that comes in orange and white, or liver and white. Their intelligent and eager-to-please nature makes them incredibly trainable and responsive. Temperamentally, Brittanys are known for being friendly, energetic, and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active families. While their moderate size might suggest apartment living, their high energy levels and need for regular exercise mean they thrive best in homes with a yard or access to plenty of outdoor space. Generally a healthy breed, they can be predisposed to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and sometimes epilepsy, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. With proper training and socialization, a Brittany will undoubtedly enrich the lives of its devoted family.
