Description
Dog Breed: Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat). Adoption Fee: $500.00 Meet Rudy Rudy is a soft, soulful boy who is learning that the world can be kind. He came to us from an Amish breeding environment, and because of that, he’s still figuring out what it means to feel safe and secure. Rudy is incredibly sweet and gets along wonderfully with other dogs — in fact, he would love to have a confident canine friend in his forever home to help show him the ropes. He’s very shy and cautious at first, and trust takes time, but once Rudy feels safe… he melts. If he finds his way into your lap, you’ll quickly discover how much he loves to snuggle. Because the world can feel overwhelming to him, Rudy does struggle with anxiety and may benefit from anxiety medication. He can be a flight risk when scared, so his future home must have a securely fenced yard, and Rudy will need to remain on a leash with a Martingale collar anytime he’s outside of that fenced space. Rudy has already made great progress — he’s mastered the doggie door and is mostly potty trained, though he may still have occasional accidents, especially when he’s nervous. A calm, quiet home with patient adopters who understand shy dogs will help him continue to thrive. ✨ Rudy is looking for: A quiet, low-traffic home Very patient adopters willing to move at his pace A securely fenced yard A dog-friendly environment (a canine companion is a big plus!) Rudy may not be the type to run up to you right away — but for the right family, the reward of earning his trust and watching him blossom will be incredibly special. New foster dogs need time to feel safe. They may be skittish or fearful, so always stay with them outside—even in fenced yards. Ensure collars and leashes fit securely to prevent escapes. Your gentle presence and protection help them feel loved and secure. The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 13 weeks old), and spay/neuter when necessary. The fee also helps with the cost of deworming; heartworm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. He will go home with a collar, leash, and vaccination record. If you would like to adopt this very special K-9 kid, please go DIRECTLY to our website to complete our convenient Online Adoption Form. Overview:
The Miniature Poodle, a charming and intelligent companion, originated in Germany as a water retriever before being refined in France. They are renowned for their elegant appearance, characterized by a distinctive curly coat (often requiring regular grooming to prevent matting), long muzzle, and expressive dark eyes. Standing typically between 10 to 15 inches tall and weighing 10 to 15 pounds, they are a compact yet sturdy breed. Temperamentally, Miniature Poodles are known for their high intelligence, making them highly trainable and eager to please. They are generally lively, affectionate, and can be quite playful, thriving on interaction with their families. Their adaptable nature makes them well-suited for apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. They are often excellent with children and other pets when properly socialized. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of breed-specific concerns such as progressive retinal atrophy, luxating patella, and Addison's disease. With their captivating looks and bright minds, the Miniature Poodle makes a delightful and devoted family member.
