Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (long coat). .huskyrescueteam If you have additional questions please email infohuskyrescueteam Duke came into one of our partner shelters as a stray — quiet, overwhelmed, and unsure of the world around him. Even in that stressful environment, staff could see the truth: Duke is a soft, gentle, deeply affectionate boy who just needed a calmer space to feel safe. The shelter was simply too much for his sensitive heart, so we brought him into our program to give him the chance he deserved. Once he settled into foster care, Duke blossomed into the dog he truly is: a sweet, soulful, family‑oriented Husky with a heart of gold. Who Duke Is Duke is an old soul in a young dog’s body — calm, intuitive, and endlessly loving. He’s the kind of dog who leans in for affection, follows you from room to room, and quietly anchors himself to the people he trusts. He’s wonderfully easy to live with and would make an excellent first‑time Husky for someone who wants the beauty of the breed without the chaos. His Ideal Home Duke would love: A home with canine friends, especially gentle, friendly dogs who won’t boss him around A family who wants a dog to include in daily life A calm, loving environment where he can feel secure Humans who appreciate a soft‑hearted companion ❤️ Why You’ll Love Him Duke is: Sweet and affectionate Gentle and sensitive Family‑oriented Easygoing and intuitive A dog who bonds deeply and quietly A peaceful presence in the home He’s not the dramatic, high‑octane Husky stereotype — he’s the soulful, steady one who just wants to belong. Ready for His Forever If you’re looking for a Husky who is loving, loyal, and wonderfully gentle… If you want a dog who will fit into your home with ease… If you’re ready to give a soft‑hearted boy the family he’s been waiting for… Duke is ready to come home. Duke is located in NC. Transport is available. Adoption area CT to GA. Can extend for those willing to make the drive within our adoption range. ~~Husky Education And Rescue Team is a foster based rescue. Our dogs are in our foster homes all up and down the east coast. We do not have a facility in which you can visit. We find this a huge benefit because we learn our dogs and are able to educate our adopters on what it’s like to have them live in your home. Part of our process, once pre-approved, is to speak with the foster for the dog you’re interested in. If you’re still interested in adopting from our rescue the first step is to complete our adoption application online at .huskyrescueteam/apply If you have additional questions please email infohuskyrescueteam

Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
