Description
Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier (short coat). Adoption Fee: 350.00. Rocket is a fantastic little guy who is already a wonderful companion. He weighs 16 pounds. He is very sweet, playful, great in the car, takes treats nicely, housebroken and sleeps through the night. He knows to sit, come and is working on down. Don't adopt Rocket if you want to do household chores or yard work all by yourself, he will want to be right there providing moral support. Also don't adopt him if you prefer walking around your house by yourself because he makes a great little shadow. He is also a great cuddler/snuggler and loves to be in bed with you under the covers. He lives with 3 dogs/1 cat in his foster home. He needed a very slow introduction to them at first but now it's as if he's lived with them his whole life, especially loving their springer spaniel who is the only one who will play with him and can keep up with him. Rocket would probably love a home with a playful doggy friend that would also help him adjust to his new home. As a young JRT he will need a good amount of mental and physical stimulation, but he also doesn't need to be your running partner to keep him happy. He is very smart, and a joy to live with, and to travel with. He wasn't very well socialized as a young puppy and because of this, he needs a minute and some treats when meeting new people. And he'll need slow intros to new dogs. Because of his young age and trainability, we feel he will continue to blossom in his new home, he only needs his new people to show him the way. Rocket is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age appropriate vaccines. He is with foster family while he searches for his forever family. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on appropriate vaccines. If you think she may be the perfect match for your family please fill out an adoption application! Overview:
The Jack Russell Terrier is a small, energetic dog breed originating from England in the mid-1800s, specifically bred by Reverend John Russell for fox hunting. These compact canines are easily recognized by their sturdy, muscular build, typically weighing between 13-17 pounds, with a height of 10-15 inches at the shoulder. Their coats can be smooth, broken, or rough, predominantly white with black, tan, or tricolor markings. Known for their spirited and confident temperament, Jack Russells are highly intelligent but can also be quite stubborn, requiring consistent training and ample mental stimulation. While devoted to their families, their high energy levels and strong prey drive make them better suited for active households with secure outdoor spaces rather than small apartments. They can thrive with children if properly socialized, though supervision is always advised due to their boisterous play. Generally healthy, they can be prone to certain genetic conditions such as patellar luxation, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, and some eye disorders, making responsible breeding crucial.
