Description
Dog Breed: Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. 1 year old • Male • Black Lab Mix (fun-size edition) Meet Tree — a pocket-sized Lab mix with a gentle soul and a soft, observant nature. He may be small for a Lab, but he’s got a whole lot of love packed into him. The Highlights • Sprinkled with tiny white specks throughout his coat — like he’s been dusted with stars • Fun size Lab: compact, adorable, and fully equipped with all the love in a more portable package • Fully house trained and crate trained (a respectful king) • Certified snuggle bug Personality & Needs Tree is a shy, sensitive boy who’s still learning that the world isn’t so scary. He’s especially unsure around other dogs and new environments, so he’ll need a patient home willing to go slow with introductions. With time, consistency, and kindness, he’ll absolutely blossom. Favorite Things • Watching planes in the sky (yes, really) • Treats and snacks - this boy is highly food motivated and eager to please • Cozy spots and safe people Ideal Home A calm, patient home that can give Tree the time and space he needs to build confidence. Slow introductions to new people, dogs, and surroundings will be key to helping him feel secure. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who just needs a bit of patience to shine, Tree might be your guy If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: .starfishanimalrescue/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
