Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua (short coat). Adoption Fee: $300.00. Meet your new best friend, Jacapo! This 1½-year-old Chihuahua mix is a 12-pound bundle of loyalty and love, with an adorable little underbite that makes him even more irresistible. He thrives on being close to his people, whether that means curling up beside you on the couch or following you from room to room. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who loves to snuggle, he’s your guy. He has a playful side and enjoys spending time with his family, making him a great fit for a family-friendly home. He can be a little wary of strangers at first, but once he warms up, he becomes a loyal friend for life. Jacapo is currently learning to sleep in a crate. He may whine briefly at first, but he settles in and sleeps through the night. He is also a bit of a marker, but he seems to be otherwise potty trained. He does well wearing belly bands, which have been a lifesaver, and this behavior may improve after he is neutered. He would do best in a home without cats, as they aren’t really his thing. Overall, Jacapo is a sweet, affectionate dog who just wants to be close to his people and be part of a loving home. Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
