Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Kioko was originally adopted from an LA County shelter in February of 2026. The adopter had her for a few weeks and decided that she was not a good fit. The adopter relinquished her to us and felt that she may have some aggression issues. Our staff and volunteers have socialized with her a number of times and have not seen anything that would be concerning or out of the ordinary. She is very vocal when playing with toys can be mouthy without being intentional, but has been lovely and affectionate each time she has been taken out. Her tendency to be chatty when playing, might scare someone who isnât familiar with dog behavior, so she would be best with an adopter who is at least semi experienced and understands that some dogs prefer to talk Kids should be 12 and up and we would prefer her to meet the entire family before adoption. She would love a couch or a fluffy dog bed to lounge on a few walks or hikes and some basic training. This would be a good start for this girl who has found herself in and out of shelters. Are you her forever home? Please ask to meet her out of the cage.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
