Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Rocky is ready to pave the way to a smooth road in his forever home. Rocky is a handsome and bright eyed shorthaired brown mix breed. Rocky is a 2-year-old pup and is at his full-grown weight of 60 pounds, making him a medium size dog. Rocky would love to be with a family or individual that loves to walk, go on car rides, hike and relax at the end of the day. Rocky is a master snuggler and loves being where his person is. He loves playing with other dogs, but young children make him a bit nervous, so Rocky would do best in a home with kids over the age of 12. Rocky can be shy around new people at first, but with patience, he is sure to warm up. It is unknown how Rocky will be with cats, since he has not been introduced to any yet. His leash and crate training are in progress. With his eager to please attitude, consistent and patient training should help him learn quickly. He is proud of mastering his house-training skills. Although he is housetrained, it is important to remember that accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
