Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Age: 5 years Weight: 75 lbs Meet Duck! He's a Hound mix who is house and crate trained, and great with other dogs and kiddos 8+ years. He's currently in a home with toddlers, but they are too young to understand boundaries, and it's become too much for Duck (he doesn't like being climbed on and having his tailed pulled). Duck is high energy and very social. He is looking for someone who can provide him lots of exercise and opportunities to play. He is neutered, current on vaccines and microchipped. He'll be heartworm tested very soon. rides well in a car likes water Can sit, stay, lay down (commands) plays fetch- LOVES a Chuck It Ball and chasing toys Extremely affectionate- he’s a Velcro dog! Wants to be wherever you are, loves to cuddle and be close. LOVES dog parks and boarding play time If you're interested in meeting Duck, please apply online. His adoption fee is $275. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
