Name: Sky Best Guess for Breed: Heeler/shepherd mix Best Guess for Age: 4 months as of April 2026 SEX: male Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 14lbs as of 4/10 Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training. Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy. Sky is Looking For: Hiya! I'm Sky! Me and my littermates, Sage, Shayla, and Silver, have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! I'm looking for a home that will let me play with toys and get my puppy zoomies out and give me snuggles in between playtimes. When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for What My Foster Says About Me: He's a very sweet boy, a little skittish but gaining in confidence every day. You can tell that with patience and love he's going to blossom into a super sweet, loyal, very calm companion. He's great with both my dogs and takes cues well. He will both respond to my dog wanting to play as well as initiating play. He's very crafty at distracting my dog and then stealing and hiding her treats. She just spent the past half an hour looking for her chew toy that Sky hid under his body. He's not convinced that walking outside is preferable to being carried in a sling :) He's still a little afraid of cars and street noise but is happy walking in a park. He's amazing at using piddle pads and our deck for the bathroom; not one accident. He does not mind being left with my pups if Andrew and go out; he does not show any separation anxiety as long as he is with our pups. Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog. Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
