Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Meet Hugo — a Sweet, Loyal Little Gentleman Looking for His Next Best Friend Hugo is a 9-year-old terrier mix, 15 lbs, with the heart and energy of a much younger dog. His vet says he is in excellent health and in a very “young” condition for his age. At home, Hugo is the perfect little gentleman. He is quiet, patient, crate trained, and fully housebroken. He follows house rules beautifully, has excellent manners, and does not chew or damage furniture or belongings. He has a wonderfully balanced personality: calm and easy indoors, but curious, energetic, and happy outside. Hugo enjoys long walks and exploring the neighborhood, but he is also perfectly content with shorter daily walks. Like many terrier mixes, Hugo has a naturally alert and protective nature, so he may bark at unfamiliar people or other dogs while outside. He does best on leash and stays closely connected to his owner’s guidance. With his people, he is incredibly sweet, loyal, affectionate, and attentive. Hugo would thrive in a loving home looking for a devoted companion — someone who appreciates a dog with wonderful house manners, a gentle heart, and the fun, watchful terrier personality. If you are looking for a sweet little best friend who will happily join you on walks and then relax quietly by your side at home, Hugo may be the perfect match. **** Breed: Terrier mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2196348&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
