He’ll happily follow you everywhere—even to the bathroom—because being near you is his favorite place to be. With his adorable little bunny hops and a name that means “little blessed,” he truly lives up to it. Ideal Home:• He is great with dogs. He is being fostered with 2 pitbulls and another small dog and he cuddles right in the middle of all the action! He plays with any dog that wants to play back with him• Good with cats: He hasn’t met any cats, but I think he would get along with them.• Good with kids: I think he would be good with kids, too. • Energy level: Though young and playful, he also likes naps! He will nap on your lap next to you in the bed or while on your lap while you are working on a computer• Best home: He is currently in an apartment and is still working on the learning how to go for a full walk on a leash. He does well while learning how to go potty outside. He quickly wins you over and just wants to be part of someone’s life. If you’re looking for a loyal little sidekick, he’s your guy. Good to Know:He loves his person so much he wants to steal their clothes. He learned about chewing electrical cords the hard way. Oops! He has a cherry eye. Overview:
The Dachshund, affectionately known as the "wiener dog," is a fascinating breed originating in Germany, primarily bred to hunt badgers and other burrowing animals. Their most distinctive physical characteristic is their long, low-slung body and short, muscular legs, a feature perfectly adapted for tunneling. They come in three coat types – smooth, longhaired, and wirehaired – and various sizes, from miniature to standard. Temperamentally, Dachshunds are known for being courageous, curious, and often quite playful, with a surprising amount of energy. While they are intelligent, their independent nature can make training a delightful challenge. Their small size and relatively low exercise requirements make them well-suited for apartment living, and they can be wonderful companions for families, though early socialization is key, especially with children and other pets. Regarding health, their unique body shape predisposes them to intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), so careful handling and weight management are crucial.
