Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Kiki, an adorable little low-rider girl with a coat as soft as velvet and the cutest expressive ears. She loves to run in the yard and play with other dogs and kids and gets along great with the cat in her foster home. She likes plush, squeaky toys and Kong balls then is happy to cuddle when she is tired of playing. She loves her humans and will follow them from room to room. Kiki walks well on a leash and sleeps all night in her crate and is doing fantastic with her housetraining and goes to the door to indicate when she needs to go outside. What a smart girl! We are not sure of Kiki's breeding, but she is possibly a hound or corgi mix with cute, short legs. At about 4 months old and 14 pounds, she is the best little girl! You can apply on line at .hsvawl by completing the Adoption Application on the home page.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
